Fibromyalgia, Fatigue, Chronic Fatigue, Always Tired, Tired, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, CFSFibromyalgia is a devastating medical condition that affects approximately 5 million people in America, with women being diagnosed 7 times more than men. What symptoms accompany fibromyalgia?

  • Widespread pain throughout the entire body
  • Consistent headaches
  • Sleep disorders, including inability to get proper rest
  • Issues with bladder and bowel function
  • Brain fog – lack of mental clarity

This condition continues to baffle the medical community as its cause is unknown and the wide variety of symptoms create some confusion. There is no single test that will confirm or deny the existence of fibromyalgia, and no clear answer as to how to care for it has been established.

Recent research may help to answer some of the mystery surrounding this condition. It appears that a particular blood marker has been identified among fibromyalgia sufferers. This is good news when it comes to finding a proper diagnosis for this condition. However, the way to improve fibromyalgia still remains under much debate.

Caring for Fibromyalgia Through Proper Spinal Alignment

Fibromyalgia patients find themselves frustrated when trying to find a way to alleviate the symptoms of their condition. They are turning toward more natural relief methods because nothing the medical community is offering seems to work on a long-term basis. One area that has received a lot of attention from fibromyalgia sufferers is that of upper cervical chiropractic care.

It has been noted that a misalignment in the upper neck—often due to a car accident, a fall, or a sports injury—can be the culprit behind fibromyalgia symptoms. The uppermost bone of the neck, the atlas, is easily misaligned due to its range of motion. When this bone misaligns, it can put pressure on brainstem causing communication throughout the body to be compromised. This means that improper signals can be sent to the body about the amount of pain a person is experiencing.

At Balanced Living Chiropractic, we focus on correcting this misalignment through a gentle adjustment method called NUCCA. For many, a correction of an upper cervical subluxation leads to a reprieve in fibromyalgia symptoms. Some are seeing benefits after only a few adjustments.
